Choosing a dehumidifier capacity

Dehumidifier capacity is rated in litres of water removed per day. Pick too low and the space stays damp; pick by litres alone and you can still miss the job if the room is cold or needs continuous drain. This guide matches capacity to the situation.

Capacity is litres per day, not tank size

The headline number — 10 L/day, 20 L/day, 50 L/day — is the extraction rate at a standard test condition. It is not the tank volume. A larger tank just means less frequent emptying; the litres/day figure is what decides whether the room dries.

SpaceTypical capacityNotes
Flat / small basement10 – 20 L/dayComfort and light dampness
Warehouse / light-commercial20 – 35 L/dayLarger air volume, longer run time
Large / very damp space35 – 50 L/dayFlood recovery, storage, production

Match capacity to how damp it is

The same room needs more capacity if it is genuinely wet rather than merely humid. A laundry room or a basement after rain loads the air far more than a mildly humid living room, so size for the worst week, not the average day.

  • Mild humidity – occasional condensation on windows
  • Moderate damp – musty smell, visible moisture
  • Severe – standing water, flooding, storage at risk

Cold spaces need auto-defrost

Below about 15 °C a dehumidifier’s coil can ice up. Basements and unheated stores run cold, so auto-defrost is the specification point that keeps the unit working through winter. All Focusee dehumidifiers include auto-defrost.

Continuous drain vs tank

For unattended or round-the-clock duty — a warehouse, a storage room, a flood recovery — a continuous-drain hose or condensate pump removes water without anyone emptying the tank. For a bedroom or office, the internal tank is usually enough.

Picking the line

Decide the capacity band from the room and the dampness, then choose drain and defrost options from how it will be used. Tell us the spaces and duty cycle and we will propose the models and MOQ for the range.

Frequently asked questions

How many litres per day do I need?

A flat or small basement typically needs 10–20 L/day, a warehouse or light-commercial space 20–35 L/day, and a large or very damp space 35–50 L/day. Size for the worst week, not the average day.

Is the litres/day number the tank size?

No. Litres/day is the extraction rate at standard test conditions; the tank only sets how often you empty it. The extraction rate is what dries the room.

Do I need auto-defrost?

If the space runs below about 15 °C — a basement or unheated store — yes. The coil can ice up without it. All Focusee dehumidifiers include auto-defrost.

Tank or continuous drain?

A tank suits a bedroom or office. For unattended or continuous duty such as a warehouse or flood recovery, choose the continuous-drain hose or condensate pump so the unit never stops on a full tank.

Can these be private labelled?

Yes. Dehumidifiers are available for private label with your carton, rating label and manual, and the capacity and drain options set for your market.
